Jackfield Black lead glazed pottery was made in Shropshire England from the late 18th Century and proved popular through to the early 20th Century with the black glazed style also being copied by the Staffordshire potteries in to the 19th Century.
This example of Jackfield Ware is a jug or pitcher in cow form, typically used for milk, which is poured from the cows' open mouth with the cows' tail being the jug handle
This one still has its lid, a small item which often gets lost or broken over time
The cow has a tiny nibble from the end of its right horn which I have shown in the photos and is in very good collectable condition
Dimensions are base: 6 inches 15 cm by 3 1/2 inches 9 cm Length Nose to tail 7 1/4 inches 18 .5 cm
Height to tip of horns: 5 3/4 inches 5 cm.
