SOLD Antique Hand enameled transferware dinner plate by WILLIAM BROWNFIELD COBRIDGE c.1850-1871 SOLD
SOLD Early example of clobbered English Transferware from William Brownfield who traded from Cobridge from 1850 until 1891. The trading style changed to Brownfield & Son in 1871 and the impressed mark W B which is on this plate became W B S. so these plates fall within the first 20 years of manufacturing activity.
I have 14 of these plates which where bought together and likely from the estate of the same person. There are minor differences in the amount of colour applied to individual plates as they have been hand decorated. The reverse of almost all of them has the number 7162 painted in red within the foot rim and the majority of them also have the printed mark in blue "No 15" under glaze. There is no printed factory mark on any of the plates and the W B impressed mark is not clearly readable on all of them. All of the plates have a small star shaped mark stamped in blue under glaze within the foot rim.
I have offered here an individual plate but as I do have a number of them I could supply a greater amount if needed , please contact me via email@example.com for a custom made order and accurate shipping price.
The condition of the plates is very good free of chips or cracks but there is some fine age related glaze crazing in places.
