Antique Victorian Blackware Jackfield Gilt & Enamel Foliate Coffee Pot C 1890 . OFFERS INVITED
A collectable example of Jackfield Ware which had its roots in Shropshire England & which later became more widely manufactured and provided a style of black glazed items often hand decorated with gilt and polychrome enamels.
I have had plenty of Jackfield teapots but coffee pots are more scarce,
The pot I am offering had no makers marks just a hand painted number 149 added to the base. Jackfield Ware was very much a Victorian thing but its popularity did extend in to the early 20th Century and later items tended to carry makers marks and so I am happy to place this pot as late Victorian.
Collectible and still usable the pot has picked up a repair to the spout at some time in its life together with a chip in the glaze at the spout rim and some chipping inside the lid rim which can not normally be seen
The pot is priced to reflect its overall condition and I have shown the blemishes in my pictures,
Dimensions are : Base 4 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches. Spout to Handle 7 1/2 inches. Height to top of lid ,8 1/2 inches.
